Our Mission:

  • Community

UMPL is a fast-growing student-athletic club with members varying from novice powerlifters to state and national champions. Our priority is you, we’ve worked hard to create an inclusive and educational environment to support all members.

  • Progress

We pride ourselves on having a wide array of connections and resources to provide to members and support them in pursuing their individual goals through the sport of powerlifting. We provide advice, connections to coaches, support, and assistance however possible.

  • Competition

Our club hosts athletes who compete at a high level, sending a large number of members each year to compete at USAPL Collegiate Nationals and Raw Nationals. We hope to continue to cultivate a group of persistent and competitive athletes who represent us on a national scale.

Our Team:

UMPL began in 2021, and since then we have grown into a large community with many people united by one sport. From advanced athletes to novices, from national competitors to first-time lifters, we connect people with a shared interest to each other in a way that benefits us all. We’re a very active club, with the majority of our focus dedicated to education, networking, and team building. This has helped us cultivate a strong and recognizable group of members at all levels who support each other through all goals. We pride ourselves on how active and present our members are, both inside the gym and out, and on our love of the community we work hard to build and maintain. We train together, travel together, and work together however possible. We welcome new members of all backgrounds and all interest levels, with no competitive expectations, and we love the opportunity to grow both our team and the sport as a whole.

Our Athletes:

New Lifters

Each year, we support dozens of athletes as they strive to achieve their personal and competitive goals. In 2024, we helped 14 members compete for the first time, from encouraging their registration to assisting them in finding equipment to coaching them on meet day, we eliminated as many barriers as possible to ensure all who want to compete in the sport can. In 2025, we hope to continue that trend, supporting new lifters however possible to open the sport of powerlifting to all.

Collegiate Nationals

We also push members who have been in the sport for a long time to achieve at the highest level. In 2024, we sent 12 athletes to USAPL Collegiate Nationals to represent our club on the largest collegiate stage of our federation. We are proud to have such competitive lifters in our club, and prouder still to support them in their endeavors by assisting in travel, coaching, and providing a strong community to cheer them on come meet day.
